Complex & Event Processing in the news - updated
Posted by Paul Vincent
There is (seemingly) increasing coverage of EDA and CEP in the “news” (aka blogosphere). For example, just look at the number of articles in the ebizQ CEP reference list [*1]! Interestingly, the importance of CEP and Event Processing is recognized by Gartner who are holding an “Event Processing Summit” in September [*2]. TIBCO will be there.
UPDATE: And now there is a 3rd CEP-related event, in as many weeks! The COOUG’s Business Rules Group [*3] is getting a presentation on CEP and Business Rules in early Oct… [*3]. Then, 3 weeks later, we are also attending the Business Rules Forum conference (again, presenting on the latest and greatest in the overlapping domains of rules and CEP [*4]). The co-located RuleML 07 is also on that week, with EDA as a topic.
Notes:
[*1] Purists will note that this list is titled “Event Processing”, but tagged “CEP”. This is an easy enough and forgivable mistake, as per The Glossary, a “complex event” is any event that is an abstraction or aggregation of other events, and many many conventional event processing applications will deal with at least some such complex events!
[*2] The Event Processing Technical Society or EPTS will be holding its 3rd Event Processing Symposium consecutively with the Gartner event. For more info on EPTS members and goals, see here. TIBCO will be there, too!
[*3] See the CTOOUG BRSIG event page for more info.
[*4] The BRForum team has got some totally anonymous dude to give this presentation, though…
