How Long Should a Laptop Last? What about the Battery?

What is the average lifespan of a laptop and how long does a laptop battery last?

These questions come up very often when someone is planning on buying a laptop or is switching from a PC. There are a certain number of factors that come into play when we are speaking about laptop lifespan, but most often what brings a laptop to its knees is its battery.

That is why we have decided to create a universal guide about how can you prolong the lifespan of your laptop, and how can you make sure that its battery will last for a long time.

The average lifespan of a laptop is around 4-5 years depending on how well you take care of it. As we have mentioned before, the lifespan of a laptop depends on a lot of things. These are some of the main things that you will have to look out for:

The Hardware affects its lifespan

First, you will have to take into consideration, that hardware does get old and if you are using a 10-year-old laptop the chances of it malfunctioning or breaking is much higher than a brand new laptop. The most common reason why this hardware fails is that of overheating. Laptops gather dust and they are much harder to clean than regular computers, making them run hot if not cleaned regularly.

Hardware comes into play as well, when we are talking about what you are going to use your laptop for. Softwares and video games get better and better, thus they require more powerful hardware to run.

If you have a laptop that has a lot of RAM in it, a nice and powerful GPU and CPU, it will last longer, than an average laptop that is designed for office use. So as time goes by, the performance of your laptop decides how long the laptop is going to last.

The more you spend on a brand new laptop, the higher the performance it has, the longer its lifespan will be.

If you have an older laptop, look around for information on how you can upgrade it. Usually, the RAM and HDD of a laptop are upgradable, and + 4 GBs of ram and an SSD can help you out a lot.

Taking care of your laptop

If you don’t take care of your laptop, it won’t last long. If you don’t clean your laptop regularly, you will experience thermal throttling, which means that the performance of your laptop will be significantly worse when it heats up, and due to the constant heat, the parts inside will break.

But don’t worry, we have made a list which helps you taking care of your laptop:

  1. Make sure you clean out the inside of your laptop regularly. If you are inexperienced, or not sure what you are doing just ask a professional or a friend who can clean it out and apply thermal paste to the CPU and GPU.
  2. If your laptop runs hot, consider using a laptop cooling pad to make it operate properly.
  3. Don’t leave your laptop on your charger 24/7. If you do so, you might potentially overcharge the battery which will shorten it’s lifespan.
  4. Make sure you don’t eat or drink near your laptop to avoid accidental food/drink spills that might damage it.
  5. Make sure you have an antivirus software and don’t download or click on any suspicious windows/pop-ups.

How long does a laptop battery last?

The question “how long should a laptop battery last” can be answered to ways:

On a single Charge

The single charge duration depends on two things.

  1. How you use your laptop
  2. The WH Rating of your laptops battery

The more quality laptop you buy, the more quality battery you get which means longer single charge duration. But you will have to be careful because many of the most expensive laptops come with bad batteries. We suggest reading our featured list of 17 inch laptops to see for yourself.

Usually, good laptops last around 5-7 hours until they need a recharge, but if you are constantly using a gaming laptop to its full potential, this can fall down to almost 45 minutes.

Overall lifetime of a battery

On average, if you don’t damage your battery, they should last for at least 300-500 full cycles. That means 300-500 full charges. Keep in mind that we have mentioned Full charges, that means you would have to completely deplete your battery and charge it to 100%, that would count as one.

One way you can prolong the lifetime of your laptop battery is to don’t overcharge it. Never let it completely deplete, but never let it fully charge either. That way you can preserve it, and get more performance out of it.

What do you need to start Live Streaming?

Whether it’s on burgeoning platforms such as Twitch or even Youtube, Facebook, Ustream, or Instagram, live streaming has become one of the most popular forms of online internet. It makes for a wonderful hobby for anyone that wants to share their passions with the world. Anyone can jump on board to either play games, perform music, illustrate, or even simply show off whatever they may be doing at the moment. It doesn’t matter if you’re just venturing into online content creation or already an established entity. This is a very new world where all are welcome to stake their claim.

If you’re new to the entire concept, however, it can be a bit daunting and even a little confusing. Not only is there a bit of a settling in period if you’re merely watching live streams for the first time, there are certainly a lot of elements that will be difficult from the streamer’s end. Unfortunately, this presents a bit of a mountain to climb. With so much similar content already being generated, there’s a lot of competition right from the start. If you can’t keep a viewer engaged, they may leave your stream in relatively short order.

So, what can be done to make sure your stream is a success? From the very early stages all the way up to maintaining your momentum once you finally get going, there are a few key tips that will help you rise above those who were will be prepared. With that in mind, here’s how to start live streaming from your computer successfully:

1 – Make Sure Your Computer Has Some Power

First of all, it’s important to make sure your computer is up to the task in the first place. You need a strong processor, a solid graphics card, and plenty of RAM. If you have an older machine or even a budget laptop, it may hold you back. Anything having to do with video takes a lot of processing power.

If you find that you can’t afford upgrading, you can always try starting off by streaming at lower resolutions until you’re finally able to do so. Many viewers will prefer HD streaming, but you don’t have to feel overly held back at first. Note that building your own PC or merely updating your current rig piece by piece is easier and more affordable than you probably think.

2 – Check Your Internet Speeds

You also need quality internet if you’re going to be live streaming. You need to be streaming from a connection that can transfer a lot of data quickly, so be wary of any internet packages that skimp on the upload speeds. If you can’t provide a quality bitrate with a smooth connection, it’s going to be difficult to keep an audience engaged. On the same note, you should be sure you can stream from a wired connection that’s hooked directly into your modem whenever possible. Wireless should only be relied upon for mobile streams.

3 – Pick Your Streaming Platform

You’re also going to need a streaming platform on your computer to help you set up which parts of your screen will be captured. You can create certain scenes to switch between on the fly, giving your stream a professional look and feel once you get the knack for it. The two most popular options are currently XSplit and Open Broadcaster Software. OBS is a solid first choice since it’s free to use.

4 – Invest In A Quality Microphone

Even before you start thinking about webcams and the like, it’s important to grab a high-quality microphone. Something along the lines of the Blue Yeti or Blue Snowball will suffice until you have the means to upgrade to even higher-end models. Those models, in particular, are easy to use and can connect to your computer via USB. You should check out our list of the best microphones for streaming.

You should also invest in a shock mount for your mic and a pop filter. If you can keep your audio clean, you’ll already be ahead of the game. Even poor visuals can usually be forgiven if you can at least be heard well.

5 – Watch Your Audio Levels

On the same note, make sure you can monitor your audio levels within your streaming software. A lot of the most egregious rookie mistakes come from allowing your audio to soar to uncomfortable levels. Always keep your audio from peaking, which will usually be indicated graphically by level meters that turn red. Once you really get serious, you can buy a mixing board for your mic to help you adjust things on the fly.

6 – Put Yourself Out There

There are some other additional steps such as gathering some graphics for your intros, screen transitions, and overlays, but all of that is ultimately fluff. The most important step once you have all of the pieces above in place is to simply start streaming and let the world know. Keep it up consistently with a regular schedule and do everything you can to advertise on social media. Re-post your streams to Youtube as well, and with time you’ll hopefully build an audience.

Although it is not recommended, you can start livestreaming from a 17 inch laptop as well, just make sure it has enough power. If you want a good one, you can check out our awesome list of the best 17 inch laptops.

How to wash your laptop backpack the correct way

Laptop backpacks are very important for those who own laptops as they make it easy to transport laptops, serves as protection for laptops and stores laptops. However, a laptop backpack should be well taken care of so that it can last for a longer period. This is why it is a good idea to know how to wash your laptop backpack.

Learning how to wash your laptop backpack is important as dirt, dust and bacteria can accumulate in and around your bag after years of use. Additionally, stains from food residue and accidental spills of liquids could also make the laptop backpack look unsightly.

At times, an unclean laptop backpack can emit a sour odor and lead to discoloration. Do you want to save on costs for taking your backpack to the laundry while at the same time have an attractive backpack that you can carry it everywhere you go? If the answer is a big yes, then it is good that you learn how to wash your own laptop backpack. Make sure you buy a premium quality 17 inch laptop backpack, because it will be easier to clean.

What you need to wash your laptop backpack

Old toothbrush or rag

If your backpack has stains that are visible and unsightly, then it may be a good idea to use some form of light abrasion to remove the stains. A rough rag or old toothbrush can be a good option. Avoid using bathroom brushes or those brushes with metal bristles or tight plastic because they could damage the upper layer of your backpack.

Mild detergent

Those who want to remove stains from a cloth or cloth-like material should look for a surfactant in the form of detergent. This is mainly because of the fact that plain water cannot remove stains effectively. However, using harsher types of detergents could end up bleeding out the color of your backpack. Therefore, it is good to look for detergents that have a color friendly formula to avoid any discolorations.

Washing machine

Despite the fact that laptop backpacks can be washed by hand, it is also possible to use a machine wash unless the backpack’s tags indicated otherwise. A washing machine can make the process of washing more convenient. However, there are certain precautions that you should observe when using a washing machine.

Manual washing your Laptop Backpack

Empty all the contents

Before soaking your backpack in water, take out all the contents especially small electronic devices such as phone chargers, pens, papers and so on. Also, remember to remove detachable straps and pockets.

Brush off dirt, dust, and loose threads

Before you soak your backpack in water, look for any loose surface dirt and if there is any dust them off. Doing this will ensure that the water is as clean as possible. After dusting off the dirt, wipe off any stubborn dirt using a rag. If there are any loose threads hanging, especially near the seams, cut them using a pair of scissors. Avoid tugging them.

Add detergent- water mix to stains

If there are any stubborn stains caused by rust, food or drinks, then ensure that this area is pre-treated. This can be done by mixing equal parts of detergent and water and then scrubbing the residue using a soft brush. Let it sit for 30 minutes as most of these would further fade with the bag. Make sure you use environment-friendly detergent.

Fill a large basin or pale with lukewarm water

Lukewarm water can remove tough stains and this is why it is a good idea to use it to clean your laptop backpack. However, you should avoid using hot water as it may make the color bleed out. Also, remember to take caution for this step since some bags should not be soaked. Ensure that the label indicates that the backpack can be soaked before soaking it in lukewarm water.

Wash the backpack

Washing a laptop backpack involves submerging it if it is permissible and adding some mild soap. Scrub the pre-treated area for the second time using the same toothbrush you used earlier. However, avoid overdoing this step and instead stop after all the stains have been fully removed.

Rinse thoroughly

The next step is to take out all residues foam soap and detergent. To do this, you will have to soak your backpack in a basin or pail or fresh water. You can use a body towel to rinse a lot of water by wrapping the bag in it and pressing it lightly.

Hang it out to dry

It is good to let your backpack dry the natural way. Keep the bag unzipped and ensure that it hangs upside down. This allows the water to dry up.

The Best Skydiving Game Ever Made

Many of you may ask, why are skydiving games so exciting, when you can literally pay a few hundred dollars for the experience in real life?

It is called many things, skydiving, parachuting, paratrooping, or in other languages, tandemugrásnak hívják !

Well, basically there are two reasons why this can happen. The first is that there are many people who are afraid of height, or jumping out of a big ass plane, above the ground.

The second is, that it does not cost as that much, you can play it from home, and it basically stimulates the same part of your braind, which gives you adrenaline, if you choose the right game.

There is one particular way that can give you the best experience you have ever had in skydiving games, is using a VR headset. Most of these games are VR Friendly, and once you put your virtual reality googles on, you will feel like a real paratrooper on a mission.

What are the best games?

With GTA V released, there has been a huge gap filled in the industry in skydiving games. Since Rockstars immersive gameplay mechanic inspired us we have decided to list a few games, compare them, and see what is best in all of them. If you have played a many of these games, they are not the best, most of them are not even enjoyable. That is why there are big budget games, that are not specifically sky diver games, but since these are mostly open world, they have got the feature as a plus. These are mostly used in single player games, when doing a mission, but once you have done that mission, you can freely do it anytime you want. There are even modded GTA 5 servers, where you compete against other skydivers, for virtual money. The first one that gets into the final circle wins. Lets start with the game we have mentioned several times, GTA 5.

Why is GTA 5 the best in terms of Sky Diving?

The GTA series is really the msot attacked game in the virtual game history ever. The game itself and rockstar as well has seen protesers, who tried to ban sales, and furious parents who did not agree with the so called brutality in the game. The things is, the game is only brutal if you make it to be. You don’t necesseraly have to kill people, or drive over anybody unless you are in a mission, and there are a handfull of those. But anyway, who cares really? Kids see more violence in movies and TV shows as they see in GTA. The first instance where you could parachute was in GTA: San Andreas. Man, that game was a real deal changer! As fast as it came, it left as fast, because it was not avalaible in GTA IV for some reason. After Rockstar have came to the conclusion, that people really missed the skydiving in the game, in the expansion called “THe Ballad Of Gay Tony”, they reintroduced the feature to the game.

Another great example is Saints Row

Again, a game that is not aimed at kids, but the maturer audience, offers the ability to jump from very high building from your couch. The feature of sky diving and parachuting came in the second game, but the real deal was in Saints Row 3, where it became really fun, thanks to the new engine. In Saints Row, you can set a target where you would like to land, and if you manage to land in it, or get fairly close to it,  you can get experience points in game.

But how can you take it to the next level?

Well, i think you already know the answer. Yeah, that is right, by getting up from your couch, and doing the real thing. There are several places that you can do this, it all matters where you live, if you live in the European Union, tandemugrás székesfehérvár can be a great place to start.

If you live in the U.S you will have to check out Waialua, U.S.A.

You can choose height where you want to freefalling from: 12,000, 14,000 or 20,000 feet. In many cases, these companies will photograph you when you are diving, so don’t forget to smile, and enjoy the moment!

HP Pavilion 15T

The HP Pavilion 15T is an elegant and sleek gaming laptop that delivers a pretty solid gaming and overall performance. Its battery life is also quite impressive for a gaming laptop. It is an expressive laptop, coming in several different colors like most gaming laptops do. All in all, it is a pretty decent gaming laptop with a modest price range.

Overview

Before we dive deeper into the review, here is a quick overview of the HP Pavilion 15T’s hardware specs:

Processor: Intel Core i5-7300HQ Processor
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU
Screen: 15.6 inches 1920×1080 Multi-touch supporting 10 finger touch
Memory: 1TB HDD, 12GB of RAM, 4GB of VRAM
Battery: Up to 6.5 hours of battery life

Design

The HP Pavilion 15T is a sleek laptop, with a black brushed aluminum chassis with green accents. The lid elegantly curves over the hinges at the bottom giving the laptop a unique look.

When you open the laptop, it has a similar black brushed aluminum deck, with soft green accents on the speaker, touchpad and the keyboard. The power button also glows green when you switch on the laptop.
Its dimensions are 14.9×9.9×1 inches, and it weighs a comfortable 5.4 pounds. Although this design means you will be wiping your fingerprints off your machine almost daily, it is a small price to pay for a laptop that looks this good.

Display

The 15.6-inch display is a bit dull, which takes away from the gaming experience if you are using it for gaming. However, it has crystal clear clarity at 1920×1080 HD resolution. The touchscreen is a very responsive multi-touch screen supporting 10 finger touch.

Hardware

The HP Pavilion comes with a standard range of hardware:

1. Ports and Slots

The HP Pavilion 15T comes with several ports and slots. On the right side, it has a USB 3.0 port, a USB Type C port, a 3-in-1 card reader, an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and a power port. On the left side, it has two USB 3.0 ports, an earphone and headphone jack, and a secure lock slot.

2. Webcam

It comes with a 720 HD front-facing webcam. However, if you can, you should definitely invest in a good quality webcam, The photos you will get from the HP Pavilion 15T, like from most laptops, are grainy and blurry. The images will have noise and the colors will not be accurate. You can, however, use it for such tasks as Skype calls, where communication is more important than how you look.

3. Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard comes with preinstalled green underlighting that gives the laptop a nice sparkling emerald look when lit. However, these lights cannot be customized, so if you wanted some RGB lighting, this is not for you.

The keyboard is also very comfortable to use, largely due to its placement. It rests snugly at the center in an island style that you will definitely appreciate.

The touchpad is extra long, at 4.5 inches and 2.3 inches wide. It has the same elegant green lining, and it will give your fingers a lot of room to move around, swipe and scroll. Every gesture will be accurate with a touchpad this size.

Software

It comes with a few preinstalled software. For example, you get Nvidia’s GeForce Experience software to customize and enhance your gaming experience. It also has a host of other HP software, such as Recovery Manager, HP Support, HP SmartFriend, and Orbit. Orbit is a nice little software that lets you transfer data between multiple devices.

HP, however, bloats its machines with a huge amount of third-party apps and software. Although these do not actually harm your machine, they can quickly get annoying. The Pavilion 15T comes loaded with McAfee, Netflix, Dropbox, Cyberlink Media Suite, Wild Tangent Games, Amazon, Microsoft Games, The Weather Channel, Evernote, TripAdvisor, and Priceline. You will probably never use most of these and you should definitely uninstall them as soon as you can. Start with McAfee. There are way better antivirus programs out there.

Performance

1. Overall Performance

It has a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5-7300 HQ processor with 12GB of RAM. This makes it able to perform multiple tasks and to multitask efficiently. You can watch a movie, stream videos and browse using multiple tabs all at the same time and it will not lag.

The HP Pavilion 15T also does not easily heat up. It can comfortably handle running demanding software and remain cool to the touch.

2. Graphics

It has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU with 4GB of VRAM. This delivers a solid gaming experience, especially if you use modest settings.

Some units reviewed online had stability issues, where the laptop would show lines across the screen several times as it was used. Others experienced bluescreens or inconsistent performance issues. HP released a firmware update for this model to fix the issues it was facing. After the update, fewer problems were reported, but a few cases still persisted.

Audio

The audio quality leaves much to be desired. You would want to use a pair of headphones for a better gaming experience if you are using the HP Pavilion 15T because the standard speakers are disappointingly weak. Perhaps this is partly because the main speakers have been placed on the bottom front part of the laptop, a position that has been proven to make the audio perform better on hard surfaces than on soft ones such as laps.

It comes with Bang & Olufsen audio software to help you customize your audio performance. The software has three presets: Voice, Movie, and Music. If you want the best audio quality and volume, use the Movie setting. However, despite the boost this setting gives, the overall audio performance is still a little lacking.

Battery Life

The HP Pavilion 15T is a breath of fresh air when it comes to battery life. Most gaming laptops are usually very disappointing in this area, with famously short battery lives. Despite being able to handle heavy tasks, the HP Pavilion 15T can run for 6 hours and 30 minutes of non-stop use.

Summary

To summarize, here is a list of pros and cons you can expect with the HP Pavilion 15T:

Pros

1. It has a classy and attractive design2. The graphics are solid with a good overall performance3. It has a good battery life

4. The keyboard is well designed and comfortable

Our picks of the Best 17-inch Laptops

HP Pavilion 17 – The Best 17-inch Laptop for students

Are you a student and looking for the best 17-inch laptop for the money? You have found it. The Pavilion from HP is a pretty all-around device if you are looking for one under 1000 dollars, that can satisfy all your needs.

The Pavilion comes with a very cool looking black design, which gives it a metal feeling, but it is all plastic. The hinges of the laptop are good, they are not too loose nor too tight, it easily holds the 17.3 inch glossy screen of the laptop. The laptop has a Windows 10 Home OS installed and activated on it.

This 17-inch laptop has a glossy screen, which means it provides better color intensity, and better contrast ratios, but on the downside, it reflects external light, which can be very annoying. But, if you are using it at night,it is perfect and better than matte screens.

It has a 1600 x 900 resolution, which is between somewhere 720p and 1080p. It is perfect for reading documents, watching videos and movies, or playing games on low settings.

Let’s look at the guts of this little beast. It comes with an Intel Dual Core processor that can easily beat AMD, and a built-in Intel HD graphics card. These are pretty neat if you are an average everyday user, who wants to browse the internet, watch videos, put together a Word document, but it will not hold it is ground for any recent video game.

The Pavilion comes with 8 GBs of DDR4 memories. This is more than enough for an average user, if you aren’t trying to launch seven copies of Photoshop, while running Chrome with twenty tabs open. Beware, Chrome loves eating RAM.

It has 1 TB of space, which can easily hold millions of your documents, several thousand photos and a few hundred hours of videos of your cat/dog while he/she is sleeping.

The DTS Sound built-in speakers are not the greatest, but I wouldn’t expect a Dolby Surround system built into it for this price tag.

There is 1 USB on the right side, and 2 on the right along with an HDMI port.

The 3 cell battery is capable to power your computer up to 7.5 hours under normal use, but to be honest, it is more like 6-6.5 hours, due to the possibility that some software use up more power.

Acer Predator Helios 300 – Best 17-inch Laptop Under 1500 for Gaming

Want to run most games at Ultra, while traveling? Done. The Helios 300 from Acer is your perfecth choice then! For under 1500, this is the best gaming 17-inch laptop currently on the market.

First the looks. The Predator is the Apex Predator in computer design. With its minimalistic, yet modern and well-polished look, it is absolutely the best. It is so cool, if it were a man, we would call him Mr. Steal Yo’ Girl. While the predator logo is not metal like on the 15.6-inch version of this laptop, it still gives a metalish and awesome look.

The Helios 300 has a high-quality plastic casing, with vents on the back. The backlit keyboards make it easy to use the keyboard at night.

It comes with a Windows 10 Home Operating System installed on it, so you don’t have to worry about installing it yourself.

The screen of the predator is a 17.3″ IPS. 1080P and widescreen as well, with a resolution of 1920×1080. The IPS technology makes it easy to see its full potential from all angles.

When it comes to gaming, the Helios 300 has everything you need. The quad-core i7-7700HQ Processor which can be boosted to 3.8 GHz is more than enough for running new games on high settings. The GPU of this 17-inch laptop is a GTX 1060 with 6 GBs of ram.

The Helios has 16GBs of DDR4 ram, and comes with a 256 GB super-fast SSD, which will make your Operating System load fast, and a 1 TB HDD for all your data.

Sounds are coming out of two speakers on the bottom. They are loud enough to fill up a small room, with very nice highs and mids, but there is like no bass whatsoever.

The battery life is not the greatest. It is no surprise, considering there is only a 48 WH battery inside. It averages 4 hours of use when not gaming, and about 45 minutes to 1 hour when i was gaming.

The Helios 300 manages to be an amazing deal. You are getting decent sound, a very powerful graphics card, enough USD and other ports, and it is pretty quiet as well. Make sure you get the Acer accessories as well.

ASUS VivoBook Pro 17 N705 – 17-inch Budget Gaming Laptop

Asus is not a new brand when it comes to selling laptops. I believe they have more than twenty years of experience in making laptops, and they are particular. You will have to find the right model of course, what matches your needs.

If you don’t have several thousand of dollars to spend, but still want an enjoyable gaming experience, the Asus VivoBook Pro 17 will surely meet your needs.

The ASUS VivoBook Pro 17 has a strong and beautiful design, just as we expect from Asus. The backlit keyboard is very comfortable and offers several light options.

There is a Windows 10 Home ready and installed on the computer, with the default software.

The glossy screen of this 17-incher is 17.3 inches, and Full HD. Although it is Full HD, I didn’t like the quality of it that much, it looks a little washed out. But for this price range, I wouldn’t expect anything better.

The CPU of this seventeen-inch laptop is a 4 core I7-8550U with a max turbo frequency of 4.00 GHz. But the GPU is where things start to get crazy. Finding a laptop, that fits your budget, and can run games at the same times is very hard. Well, the VivoBook is your solution.

It has a GeForce GTX 1050 4 GB Graphics Card, which can run any game for the next 2 years, at like medium-high setting. I’m not saying you will play games at ultra, and have 150 FPS, but this can easily run any game and have a constant 60-70 FPS at medium-high settings.

The 16GB DDR4 RAMs can easily handle any game, or software in the background.

To make the OS load fast, the Vivobook has a 256 GB SSD, with 1 TB HDD storage. Make sure you remove the 4-ounce weight from the 2.5 HDD Bay, even if you are not planning to add an HD to it, it makes it pretty heavy.

The stereo speakers built into the bottom is excellent. It has superb highs and lows.

I expected the fans to be a little quieter, which is not that big of a deal but can be annoying if you are sitting in a quiet room.

The Battery life is not the greatest, it avarages about 3 hours while using it for gaming.

Razer Blade Pro Gaming Laptop – Best 17-Inch Gaming Laptop

The Razer Blade Pro is nothing short of extra, and for this price tag, we expect nothing less.

First, let’s take a look at the build quality. It has a complete aluminum body, with a matt black coating. Razer did a good job on this if you ask me. The computer itself is very sturdy and robust. You don’t have to worry about flexing the screen because there is no give anywhere on it. I highly suggest getting a case for it, when you purchase it from Amazon.

You can easily open this 17-inch laptop with one hand, but on the other side, it collects fingerprints and smudges like a madman. I always had to carry around some cloth to clean it.

We have a lot of connectivity, with three USB ports, 1 Thunderbolt three port, and an SD card reader.

The 4K THC Certified display provides you with an excellent multimedia experience. It has spectacular color accuracy, which makes it ideal for content creation. The viewing angles are perfect. It’s a 2-in-1 because it’s a touch display as well, although my only problem with it that it’s glossy.

The keys of the mechanical keyboard are individually lit, which you can control and add cool effects.

Razer has replaced the number pad with a trackpad, which can be annoying to get used to if you are in need of a numpad.

Above the trackpad, there is a scroll wheel for audio, which is very convenient instead of using the function buttons.

The Blade comes with a two-megapixel webcam that is capable of shooting 1080p video at 30 fps. It is good enough for Skype calls, or Messenger Video Chats, but I wouldn’t personally use it to stream.

It has two up pointing speakers on both sides. You can listen to anything on max without any weird noises, and it gets very loud with even some bass in it.

This thing is a monster. As expected, it handles games like a champ. You can play any AAA game on this thing maxed out, without any stutter. The GTX 1080 8GB does its work very well, with the CPU. I never experienced overheating, or thermal throttling at all.

It is awesome for video editing as well. Rendering times of 4K videos are almost 1-to-1 with the time of the project itself.

Cooling all of this hardware are two small fans underneath the laptop. Since the fans are thin, and designed to be minimalistic there isn’t much airflow, and it get’s definitely loud.

Battery life isn’t so spectacular either, with under just four hours of moderate usage, but with such heavy hardware inside, I didn’t expect much here anyway.

This laptop is awesome if you are an on-the-go person and would love to take advantage of the hardware built in it.

Eluktronics N870HP6 Pro-X – The Undercover Prodigy

I know what most of you are thinking. “I don’t know this brand, never heard of them, let’s skip this one.”

And I completely understand that, let’s face the truth, trusting a company with your money that you’ve never heard before is not an easy task.

But this is an advantage for you as well. Since they are not a very well known brand, they can offer lower prices, for products that have the same performance as other laptops from well known brands, for a higher price tag.

By the name, you would assume, that it is another chinese company, trying to trick you into buying their product and disappearing without any guarantees. Well, it isn’t true for Eluktronics. This Eluktronics review will prove that wrong.

Eluktronics is a U.S based company, with a lot of products. You can read about their company if you want, by clicking here.

But let’s talk about the Eluktronics N870HP6 Pro-X.

The build quality of this laptop is marvelous. It has a very slim and sleek profile, especially for a gaming laptop. Although it is made out of plastic, its got gentle contours in its design.

The keyboard is a standard keyboard, nothing too fancy with quiet clicks. I have to mention that the keyboard is a little bit mushy, but nothing too bad. The keys are RGB backlit, meaning you can control the color, and the color can be dimmed. The touchpad is very responsive and recognizes finger gestures.

The Pro-X has a Windows 10 Home OS installed by default on it.

When it comes to ports, this 17 inch laptop has a ton. Its got 3 USB and 1 USB-C ports, 2 Mini Display ports, and one HDMI.

The screen of this laptop is a 17.3″ Full HD IPS. I absolutely love that it is matte, it is a great addition to an IPS display. The color accuracy is great, and with because its IPS, you have wide view angles.

It comes with a powerful Quad-core Intel processor and a GTX 1060 6GB which is plenty enough for gaming on high/ultra. Also, this laptop does not have the same version of GTX 1060 as Acer or Alienware laptops have, but it still holds its grounds. This version has 16 GB of DDR4 RAM.

The PCIe 256 GB SSD is very fast at loading the OS and games, but since this version does not come with a HDD, I would recommend upgrading it with at least 1 TB.

Since this is a cheaper 17 inch laptop, the cooling gets a little noisy, but it is not unbearably loud. Also, when the system can get along with passive cooling, it turns off the fans.

The quality of the speakers is pretty cheap, they sound like a mobile speaker, so i recommend getting an external speaker or headphones.

It has a decent batterylife, somewhere around 5 to 6 hours with normal use.

Don’t be afraid to go with a smaller or not well known brand, just make sure you read some reviews before, just like you did here. You will often find, that these manufacturers offer better specs at lower price. Well, we hope that you liked this Eluktronic review, this is really a decent laptop for your buck.

Alienware AW17R4-7352SLV-PUS – The VR Ready

The Alienware AW17R4 is a heavy duty machine. If you are planning on running VR games, rendering videos, models, images – this will be an amazing fit.

I say nothing new when I tell you that Alienware makes good looking laptops. The Alienware AW17R4 has a excellent build quality, it does an amazing job by combining a sleek look, with just the right amount of RGB lightning.

Even though it looks like a 17.3 inch gaming laptop, it just looks classier compared to the overdone red and black gaming laptops that are currently on the market.

The majority of the Alienware 17 R4 is made out of aluminum with a soft touch plastic throughout the deck and sides.

This 17-inch laptop weighs 9.74 pounds, which makes it a desktop replacement with the benefit of being somewhat portable.

Alienware decided to place the majority of the ports on the back. There is an ethernet jack, Display port, HDMI, USB Type C. On the left there is a USB 2.0 Type C, one USB 3.0 port and the audio jack.

Finally, on the right, you have one more USB 3.0’s.

Depending on which model you go for, it can be equipped with a full HD, QHD or UHD 17-inch display. QHD is the only one that has the 120 Hertz refresh rate and gsync. It all sounds great, but keep in mind that you will have to live with a TN panel instead of an IPS one. It going to be a lot better for gaming, but not the best choice for design work.

The colors are accurate.

In terms of performance, it can obviously do all the day-to-day tasks, like browse the web, have tons of tabs open, work in Photoshop, do CAD work, but ultimately, this is a gaming laptop. It can easily handle any game at ultra while keeping the framerates at 100-150.

The webcam of this laptop records in 1080P, but nothing too fancy.

The R4 is equipped with Tobi eye tracking, what you can use for Windows Hello facial recognition.

The keyboard is nice and plush with soft-touch plastic keys, they are super comfortable to type on.

Sound Quality on the 17 R4 is amazing. Even with the two speakers on the front and the subwoofer on the bottom, the volume got loud enough to fill up a medium sized room.

When it comes to heat, the Alienware 17 completely nails it. I was super impressed, how well this laptop manages heat dissipation. There was no thermal throttling at all. The fans do get loud, if the temps get higher.

There is RGB lighting so the keyboard can be changed to any color you want.

The battery inside is 99 watt-hours and averages around 4 hours before needing a charge. When gaming, it is only getting about 1.5 hours or so.

The Alienware 17 R4 is a fantastic and one of the best 17-inch gaming laptop, it is a great desktop replacement and it is somewhat portable.

ASUS ROG Strix GL702VS – The Portable

If you have seen the ROG series from ASUS, this 17-incher will amaze you even more. The lid is made out of aluminium with a brushed finish. The ROG Logo looks very cool with the two diagonal lines, especially at night, because they light up, when you turn the machine on.

Of course, not all of the laptop is metal, the deck is plastic with the same brushed look, and the bottom is plastic too. It comes with an activated and ready version of Windows 10 Home.

In terms of ports, you are not going to get an optical drive, and that is just because the laptop is fairly thin, and you can’t really fit one in there.

The left side has the power connector, RJ45, mini display, HDMI , one USB 3.1 type C, one USB 3.0 port, and a combo audio jack.

On the right side, there is an SD card reader and two USB ports.

It comes with a 1080P display and supports Nvidia’s Gsync. Since the display is matte, you won’t get any glare but the color representation isn’t that great if you plan on using this laptop to edit video, or do professional work.

Above the display, there is a front-facing camera which shoots in HD, but the quality is not that spectacular.

We have a normal sized keyboard, with a numeric keypad. You can easily bring up the Gaming Center Software with the ROG button. Although the level of backlighting is adjustable, the only color is red.

In terms of specifications, you have a bunch of options to choose out from. You can get it with GTX 1070, or GTX 1080 graphics card, 16 or 32 GB of ram (Memory), and with a 1 TB HDD and an additional Solid State Drive. You should add another 1 tb hard drive or just buy a 2 tb hdd.

The CPU is a quad-core Intel processor which is capable of running any software or games on the highest settings, without bottlenecking the GPU you chose.

The front-facing speakers sound satisfying, but the mid frequencies are a bit washed out.

The CPU does not get throttled, even under heavy use, and the fans get pretty loud when the CPU is used 100%, but that is pretty normal for laptops.

The uptime averages 3-4 hours while doing simple things, while gaming this reduces to 2-3 hours on average.

Lenovo ideaPad Y700 – Best Under 1000

The Y700 is a 17-incher with a pretty strong Intel quad core processor, a good enough graphics card and absolutely amazing speakers. Let’s lok at the review.

The cover of the Y700 is made out of a durable, and brushed aluminum which looks beautiful, but collects fingerprints like crazy. The area around the keyboard is covered with a matte soft rubber all to the sides.

Let’s look at the overall look of the Y700. The lid is brushed aluminum, and it’s made durable. If you like to keep your computers clean, keep a cloth nearby because it collects fingerprints like crazy.

The Lenovo ideaPad Y700 provides more ports than you will need. On the left side, you have the traditional ports like AC, Ethernet, Jack. There is a Novo button which can be useful for getting in the boot menu quickly. On the right, there are two USB 3.0’s and an HDMI.

It comes with a Windows 10 Home installed. The wireless drivers are automatically installed as well.

The display is color accurate, but I wasn’t amazed by the brightness of it, even when maxed out. It is anti-glare, but again, i still saw some reflections.

The laptop has a 720p webcam and the quality of the video is not bad.

The keyboard of the Y700 is backlit, with only one color, red. This cannot be changed, unfortunately, but it can be dimmed.

The JBL speakers in the laptop are very impressive. They are loud and sound very marvelous at the same time, and the subwoofer gives nice lows.

The vents are placed at the back of the laptop, which gives the laptop a “gaming laptop” look. You might need a bigger case for this.

The performance of this 17-inch laptop is rad. If you are planning on using it for everyday tasks like browsing the web or reading emails, watching movies, you won’t have any problems.

The Geforce 960M 4 GB does a  good job running games, it can handle newer games at high-medium graphics.

The cooling of this laptop is very good. I never had thermal throttling issues, and the fans are fairly quiet, when you are not gaming. When you are gaming, it gets a bit loud. My version came with a 1 tb hard drive.

It’s got a 60 watt hour four-cell battery. The Lenovo Y700 is capable of running for 3-4 hour under normal use, and about 1,5 hours if you are gaming.

If you would like to play games on a 17-inch laptop, but don’t want the best graphics, get this. It’s heavy and big, but if you are planning on gaming, this won’t be that big of an issue.

Dell i5767-5889GRY Inspiron Pro – Best for office work

The Dell Inspiron Pro was created with style in mind. It perfectly fits any desk or business meeting you may have, without directing too many unwanted eyes at you.

This Dell 17-inch laptop has a brushed and beautiful plastic unibody, It was clearly created for work purposes.

It comes with a preinstalled Windows 10. Keep in mind, that Microsoft Office is a separate product and is not included with Windows 10, so you will have to buy it separately. If you are looking for free alternatives, I recommend using Open Office.

What Windows 10 does include is Cloud saving, what makes your Office documents secure, even if your hard drive dies on you.

When it comes to ports, the Dell Inspiron has plenty that you may need. On the left, you have the AC Power port, the Ethernet, a HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, and a combo jack. On the right side, you’ve got an SD card reader, an USB 2.0 and an Optical drive.

The lid opens up pretty easily, and it’s not loose at all.

The Dell Inspiron Pro has a 17-inch anti-glare HD display. To be honest, the colors are a little off, and it’s not Full HD (1600 x 900). Due to that, I wouldn’t recommend it for any Photoshop work, or anything that needs good color representation.

The Dell i5767-5889GRY can easily handle and was built for business tasks like reading emails, dealing with documents, browsing on the web. With the Intel Core I5 CPU and integrated graphics, you can easily watch videos and movies as well. It comes with 8 GB of memory, which is more than enough for the average user. The Wireless connectivity is 802.11b/g/n.

My version had a 1TB HDD, which paired with the Cloud saving or perfect. The keyboard is comfortable, easy to type on, and is backlit.

The stereo speakers of this Dell are not the best, but enough for multimedia purposes.

Since the Dell notebook doesn’t overheat, the fans rarely turn on, and even when they do, don’t make a lot of sound.

The 42WH battery is capable of running the notebook for at least 6 hours at normal use.

If you are looking for a notebook that you can easily carry to work, or watch videos on, the Dell Inspiron Pro is a very good choice.

HP Envy 17t Review – Best Multimedia Laptop with 17-Inch Screen

The HP Envy 17t is the true multimedia laptop you need for your everyday needs. With a Full HD touchscreen, and a decent performance, it beats every laptop in it’s league. This HP Envy 17T review will help you decide if you want this laptop or not.

The look of the HP Envy 17T is minimalistic, yet beautiful. The aluminum chassis gives a premium design to the unibody of the HP Envy 17t.

This 17-inch notebook comes with Windows 10 installed by default.

On the right, you can find a USB 3.1 Type C, a mini HDMI, an SD Card reader, a USB 3.1 Type A, and a combo jack. On the left, you’ve got two USB 2.0 Ports, and the ethernet connection.

The screen is a 17.3 inch Full HD IPS, with Ultra Wide View Angles, and with added edge-to-edge glass touchscreen. The display is matte, so you shouldn’t have any reflections of outside light, but since it’s a touchscreen it collects fingerprints like hell, so if you are planning on using that feature, keep a cleaning cloth nearby!

The performance of this multimedia 17-inch laptop is completely enough for what it’s made to do. It can easily play Full HD videos without stuttering, it can handle several tabs open, and has no problem with working in Photoshop. It has a two core I7 processor, with a Geforce 940MX and 16GB of DDR4 memory. While these aren’t the best specification for gaming, for multimedia and working purposes, they work perfectly.

The laptop is extremely fast with the built-in 512 GB of M.2 Solid State Drive, but my version had an additional 1 tb hard drive as well. If you’d like you can even upgrade it with a normal hard drive as well.

The speakers in the HP Envy 17t are not the best, but fairly enough for watching movies and videos. Although they can’t fill a whole room, they can give enough sound to make you enjoy the video/movie you are watching. The wireless connectivity is exceptional, had nor problems with it. You can find deals on Amazon, where it comes with some handy accessories.

The fans are pretty quiet, never really got loud when I was using this laptop.

The batterylife is pretty good, you can easily get 5-6 hours of use out of the 41 WH batteries.

Upgrading this notebook is a pretty hard task, since the back cover is very hard to remove.

Hope this HP Envy 17T review helped and you were able to decide to purchase it or not!

How to choose the right 17 inch laptop for your needs?

First of all, you will need to define what your needs are! Do you want to play games on the highest presets? Want to watch movies, browse the internet, or just simply edit images and videos?

Well, all of these tasks require different specifications, but we are here to help you choose.

For Gaming: If you would like to enjoy the games with a steady framerate on Ultra, you will need a laptop with a powerful graphics card, starting from the GeForce GTX 1060. In terms of CPU and RAM (Memory), you will need a CPU with at least 4 cores, and 16 GB of ram. An SSD is a must, if you would like games to load fast.

For Simple Tasks: If you only want to use the laptop to browse the internet, write documents or watch movies, you won’t need a very powerful computer. A 2 core CPU, and integrated graphics card can easily handle these tasks, but I would recommend getting at least 1 TB of hard drive and 8 GB of RAM (Memory).

For Design (Video Editing, Image Editing): First of all, you will need a color accurate display, which is at least Full HD. If you are planning on editing videos and rendering them, you will need a good graphics card and CPU as well. I highly recommend getting a hard drive with at least 2 TB of space, and an SSD.

How to Tell What is My Laptop Worth?

If you are in the market for a “new” used laptop or if you are trying to get rid of one, it’s important to know the value of your laptop. Many contributing factors determine what your laptop is worth. With technology constantly changing it’s important to know what your laptop is worth.

In this guide, the questions of what is my laptop worth and how to tell what your laptop is worth will be answered.

How to tell what your laptop is worth?

The first thing you need to do when determining the value of your laptop is to know the precise details about the specifications of your laptop. This information can be found in the manual or the computer itself.

Most important specifications

The following specifications can be found under the About tab in the system settings of a Windows-based laptop, or under the About My Mac tab on a Macbook.

* Manufacturer name * Model * Processing speed and processor type- single-core processes are slower and less valuable than those with multiple cores. * Hard drive size * Total and type of RAM * Storage capacity * Display size and type

* Video card

Determining the value

Once you have determined the most important specifications, you can begin to determine the value based on other factors of the laptop. This includes the type of laptop that you have, the software installed, age, condition, and the accessories that are included with the laptop.

What you should know

* Parts of your laptop run on a cycle so it could be worth making a few modifications after every cycle. * Hard drive space and CPU configurations of your laptop change every 12-24 months * The value of your laptop decreases about 30% each year without modifications * Lighter laptops hold more value than heavier ones. They tend to be more advanced and have higher quality materials than the heavier laptops. There are some exceptions to this.

* The formula used to calculate the value of your laptop + (hardware+software)- damages+ accessories and upgrades.

What type of laptop do you have?

The brand and specifications of your laptop combined can make or break the value of your laptop. If you have a Dell, HP, ASUS, or Apple have higher resale values because of their branding and performance. Gaming laptops, like some of the best 17-inch laptops and high-performance laptops, hold value because of the high-value hardware included in the performance components of the laptop.

Age plays a part in the value of your laptop

The older the laptop is the less it is worth unless there have been upgrades to the RAM or hard drive. One thing that tends to show the age of the computer is the battery, older laptops tend to have a weaker battery which will reduce the resale value of your laptop because replacing them costs almost as much as the value of the laptop. Another thing to remember is that the older the laptop is, the more compromised the condition of the laptop will be.

What condition is your laptop in?

As previously mentioned, the age of your laptop can compromise the condition of the laptop. Unless your laptop has been in a protective sleeve since you have owned it, it has probably inherited a few minor dents and scratches which will reduce the value of your laptop. Things to make note of that could lower the value of the laptop, include damages to the screen, body, or display. You also want to look for water damage and damages due to environmental exposures such as smoke, or moisture. Depending on the type of laptop that you have, these damages can reduce the value by hundreds of dollars.

Software is as important as hardware

You may not realize it, but the software that you have on your laptop can be of as much value as the hardware. When you are confirming the specifications of your laptop, make a note of the software that it contains. Full sets or licensed copies of certain programs can add more value to your laptop, especially if you still have the installation discs.

Accessories

Accessories can make a minor difference in the resale value amount for your laptop. This includes things like a wireless keyboard or mouse. It can increase the value of your laptop by $10-$30.

What is my laptop worth?

Now let’s put all the information together to determine the value of your laptop.

* I3 processors are typically worth $20 to $100. * I5 processors can have a value between $100-$500.

* I7 processors on the low end can value at $300 and on the high end be worth $1500.

The condition, storage capacity, and processing speed can increase or decrease those figures by 15% -30%.

Tools and resources

Some online tools and websites will help you to determine the value of your laptop by providing the information that you have obtained about the specifications of your laptop. You can also go to the website of the manufacturer of your laptop and obtain the value of your laptop from the support portal.

You can also research the value of your laptop by going to sites like eBay or Craigslist and finding similar laptops to find the fair market value of your laptop. You need to keep in mind that any upgrades that have been done to the laptop can affect the overall value of your machine.

There are many appraisal tools that you can find online that will help you determine the value. The amount that your laptop is appraised at is a ballpark figure. The condition of your laptop and the geographic location can increase or decrease the value.

Some experts suggest pricing the components of your laptop if you are unable to locate an exact match.

Bottom line

This guide should have provided you with basic guidelines to answer the question of how to tell what your laptop is worth. Remember just because computers depreciate faster than anything else you may own, it doesn’t mean you can’t increase the value. Making a few upgrades to an old laptop can have more value than a new laptop.

These gears vary in price, there are premium and general ones as well, to make sure you find one that fits your budgets as well as your budget.

A TSA approved laptop backpack is a must if you are traveling a lot. Here is our list of the best five currently on the market. Feel free to browse the table, and click on the product names to find the reviews about the certain product.

1. Timbuk2 Uptown – The TSA Friendly Laptop Backpack

The Timbuk2 Uptown is a pretty neat looking TSA friendly laptop backpack. It has everything that an everyday traveler might need, even if you are commuting cross-country.

When it comes to organization, this laptop rucksack is the absolute best. The small zippered pocket on the front of the bag is great if you want to keep smaller items where you can easily grab them. There is a side pocket on the left side of the bag which is stretchy, meaning it can fit anything at the size of a water bottle. To be honest, it would be great if there were a side pocket on the right side as well, because most of the time one water bottle is not enough, especially if you are taking a longer trip.

There is a larger space in the backpack as well, which is capable of holding all of your books, your clothes, and other gadgets or everyday stuff you may carry around with you. The design inside this compartment helps you keep things organized.

The laptop compartment of the laptop-friendly backpack can easily hold up any portable computer and mac up to 15 inches. Because it’s a TSA friendly backpack, you can simply send your backpack through security without the need of removing your laptop or anything from your backpack. The Timbuk2 Uptown completely folds out, making your security checks hassle free. The velcro protected laptop sleeve won’t let your laptop to slide out.

This rucksack is pretty comfortable, it has a ventilated back panel, which can be pretty handy, especially when it is summer. The strap design is not my personal favorite, but it’s certainly not bad.

It has a handle on each side, so you can kind of carry it around like a messenger bag if you want to.

On the downside, this backpack is pretty bulky, and heavy even when it is empty.

2. SwissGear Travel Gear 1900 – Airport Friendly Laptop Backpack for Travellers

If you have read the guide about the tibcos list of the top 10 17 inch laptop backpacks i made, the name SwissGear will sound familiar to you. Swissgear is a pretty well known and big name when it comes to travel gears. They literally produce and make everything that a traveler might need when backpacking trough their trips.

This bad boy can fit any laptop up to seventeen inch, and it’s lay flat technology what makes it totally TSA friendly. You just simply unzip the middle of the bag, lay it flat, and place it on the conveyor. It’s simple as that.

The SwissGear travel gear has everything that you might need when it comes to organizing your stuff. The multiple pockets on and inside the backpack helps you to keep track of everything you have placed inside. It has a dedicated pocket for your tablet and smaller peripherals.

The two pockets on the side of the bag allows you to carry two water bottles at the same time, which can come in pretty handy if you are on a longer trip.

This rucksack is pretty roomy and can hold a lot of stuff. Although it comes with a ton of space, it could use more smaller pockets for your medication, sunglasses.

3. Samsonite Pro 4 DLX Urban – The professional

Samsonite is the king of creating stylish laptop backpacks, and this airport friendly pack is gorgeous as well. It has a very clean, minimalistic design, yet its modern and can fit a lot of stuff. The leather finish on several spots of the bag really ads to the quality of the bag, makes it look like quality. If you want some approving looks on the airport, the Samsonite Pro 4 DLX Urban is a good choice.

The backpack is a pretty solid construction, but thanks to that it’s not light. In my opinion it’s not an issue, because i tend to carry around a lot of stuff already, so it does not make that much of a difference, but it might for someone who is used to smaller bags.

Although the Pro 4 seems small, it is surprisingly roomy. The zippered compartments make it very easy to open the bag at airport security checks, and the nylon material makes it elastic, yet durable.

Just like the SwissGear bag in the previous section, this bag has a lot of space and compartments as well. To be honest, this bag has even more.

The only thing that is missing from this backpack is the water bottle holders on the side of the backpack.

4. Alienware Awbp18 Orion Notebook Backpack – Checkpoint friendly for gamers

Are you a gamer, who travels a lot, and is sick and tired of slow airport checkpoints? Well, the beast backpack is going to be your best friend then. The Alienware Orion was purely made for gamers, it can hold any oversized, heavy gaming laptop up to 18.4 inches. Thanks to the flat layout of the bag, it is super easy to fit in even those big gaming laptops as well.

The Orion has a specific pocket for your gaming laptop, and in that same pocket there is a smaller zippered pocket where you can easily fit documents, CD, or any smaller item.

The middle zippered pocket of the bag is pretty big as well. It’s the same size as the laptop pocket, with a mesh zippered pocket, and a simple one. You can fit your USB Cooling pad here, your Ipad, tablet or even a smaller notebook might fit as well.

The third, last section has several smaller pockets, for your USB sticks, memory cards, or any smaller gear in general. These pockets are actually labeled, making finding your stuff easier.

The Orion is TSA Complaint, with scanfast, meaning you can simply leave your laptop in your backpack when going through security airport checks.

If you have a larger laptop that you carry around with yourself on trips, this backpack is a must-have.

5. Swiss Gear SA8733 – TSA Friendly Messenger Bag

I know, it’s not a backpack, but I had to include this messenger bag, because it’s so good quality and comes in very handy, when you only want to pack a few things, or don’t like backpacks.

Just as usual, SwissGear equals quality, and it really shows on this bag. The quality of the construction, the good zippers, the padding on the shoulder strap and the fabric material of the bag is high quality.

Despite it’s look, the Swiss Gear SA8733 has a lot of space. It can easily hold any laptop up to 15 inches, your textbooks or documents, while still leaving a lot of space to carry your stuff.

The messenger bag feels very good quality, feels like Swiss Gear is always aware of the material they make bags out of.

The bag has 5 pockets overall, including the one in the front. There is a big pouch for your laptop, and there are several other ones, with smaller pockets to help you keep your stuff organized.

The TSA Friendly name fits, because the bag is pretty easy to open and fold out.

The shoulder straps are pretty comfortable and padded, they are attached with two big hooks, that can be deattached if you want, so it’s pretty easy to remove the shoulder straps.

Although Swiss Gear does not say that this bag is waterproof, it’s pretty good. I walked with this bag trough heavy rainfall, and everything inside was totally dry and secure.

Although its a smaller bag, it’s got a little bit of weight, and if you don’t zip the bag correctly, your stuff can easily fall out.

Thanks to the great feedback we received to this post, we have decided to review the best laptops as well, that you can fit in these bags and are TSA friendly! Click here for the Tibco Approved 17 inch laptop list!

Best Budget Gaming Mouses

If you are a gamer, you know what it is like going through countless numbers of mice throughout the years of gaming. Some may wear out and get worse and worse by time, and there are occasions when you just simply bash it against your desk or even your wall enough times for it to not work anymore.

And this can happen to expensive mice as well, not only for the ones that are under 50$. After going through like 10 mouses over the course of 2 years, I finally made the decision to make a list of the 5 best budget gaming mouses that you can buy currently.

In this list, you will find several gaming mice that are under 50 and 30 dollars, with the same quality and attributes you would have with a high-end gaming mouse.

It does not matter, what game genre you are competing in, MOBA, RTS or even FPS, a mouse that is accurate and has a high sensitivity is a must. To get the best experience, you will have to choose a mouse that fits your hand and your gaming style. If you don’t choose this one properly, your hand may get tired easily, and your performance may be worse.

In this list, I am going to show you the best budget gaming mouses under 50$ that are currently out. I am going to break this list down into three sections, 50$, 30$, and 20$.

Don’t be fooled by the price, there are some awesome budget mice that you can use for any MOBA, like League Of Legends, or for any gaming genre, you would like. These mice were chosen very thoroughly, and every one of them was tested by me. If you are looking for a specific mouse for MMOs, and don’t mind spending more than 50$, then check out my MMO Gaming mouse list!

But if you have a tight budget, and want the best experience for your buck, here are the 5 mouses that I have chosen:

1. Corsair Gaming Sabre – Best FPS or MOBA Gaming Mouse Under 50

Our first budget mouse contender is from Corsair, a name I am sure you are familiar with. Corsair has a big name in the gaming mice industry, because of their awesome products. This cheap gaming mouse is completely lightweight, making it easier to handle, pick up, and from my experience, your hand does not get tired as fast, as it would with a heavier mouse.

This mouse is what every gamer dreams of. It’s lightweight, it has 8 programmable buttons, and an awesome 10000 DPI optical sensor, which makes it very accurate.

Want to have a mouse that resonates with your gaming keyboard? Don’t worry, the Sabre has a 16.8 million color backlighting, what you can configure with the CUE software that comes with the mouse.

This software is not only for making the mouse more pretty, but you can fine-tune the performance of it as well. This is where you can configure the eight buttons of the mouse as well.

Boom, boom, do you hear that a lot? Then you must be clicking a lot as well. Well, the Omron switches in this mouse are rated for 20 million clicks, but let’s say it does about 18’ish.

Honestly, if you are looking for a mouse under 50 dollars, buy this. This is the perfect budget mouse that you can use for MOBAs or FPS games.

2. Logitech G302 Daedalus Prime – The Best Cheap MOBA Gaming Mouse

If you are into mobas, you will be clicking even when you don’t have to. Waiting under a tower? Let’s click around, maybe do some funny glitches with your champion. But that is not the only moment when you need fast clicking. MOBA Players tend to click a lot when gaming, and that is what the Daedalus is an absolute king at, high-speed clicking.

If you are familiar with LoL, I am sure you heard about Team Solo Mid. This is the mouse that Wild Turtle uses, so you can guess, how good it is if a professional E-Sport player is playing with this mouse.

This budget gaming mouse has a metal spring tensioning button system, which makes your click feel more responsive, and not mushy like when you click with a normal, not gaming mouse.

If you are a casual player who does not always play MOBAs, but FPS games as well, this smaller mouse can be a great one to use. It literally goes with every game that requires fast clicking.

From the design, you can see that this budget mouse was not designed for playing MMOs, because it has only 6 programmable buttons, but it is more than enough for the game genres I have mentioned before. The Logitech G302 has an onboard memory, which means that every button customization is saved to that, so you don’t have to carry around a software, just to load them in.

There is an on-the-fly DPI button on the base of the mouse as well, where you can choose out of four settings, from 240 to 4000 DPI.

The Daedalus is very comfortable, and since it is lightweight your hand won’t feel tired even after gaming for long-long hours.

The mouse pulsates with a nice blue color, but you can’t set nor the color, nor the brightness, which is a bummer.

3. Corsair Harpoon – The Best Budget Gaming Mouse Under $30

I know what you are thinking right now… Corsair, again? Well, don’t blame me, blame Corsair for making good gaming mice at an affordable price.

When I first found this mouse, I had been using a very cheap wireless mouse for several years, and I got so tired of the weight of the mouse, and the process of changing the batteries, that I decided to look for a mouse, that I could use for both gaming and my projects.

I looked at reviews (No lists like this existed back then..) and found this mouse, that seemed for the most bang for my buck, while still carrying the properties and advantages of a high-end mouse.

This mouse is a smaller one, which made it very comfortable for me, but if you have a larger hand, it may be harder for you to get used to it, or you might not even find it comfortable.

Due to its low price point, the Harpoon is not specialized for any game types, it’s just a simply good budget gaming mouse. But apart from that, it has 6 fully customizable buttons, which isn’t too many, but it’s great if you are a casual gamer.

It has a very accurate 6000 DPI Optical sensor, with added advanced tracking. I pretty much used this mouse for everything, before buying a high-end mouse, and did not have any problem with the accuracy and sensitivity of it.

The rubberized sides give you a very nice and firm grip, so you don’t have to be afraid of losing the mouse while doing a big turn in CS:GO.

Whether you prefer having a claw grip, or a palm grip, the Corsair Harpoon will fit all of it.

If you are a simple user, who does not want to fiddle with performance settings, then the Harpoon is pretty much plug-and-play. The mouse has an onboard memory, with all of the best pre-configured settings on it. You don’t even have to install the software to change your DPI settings, because there is a button above the scroll, what you can use to change your DPI on-the-fly.

Since I’m a pretty technical person, it was not a hard thing to handle the UI of the software that comes with the mouse, but for everyday normal guys, it could be a little complicated. If you want a mouse that you can make turn pretty colors, this is not the one.

Speaking of which, there is currently no way to turn off the lights on the mouse, apart from when it is not powered. This is announced to be fixed in the next patch of the software, but we will see.

Overall, it is a pretty good mouse if you want to use it for casual gaming and everyday use.

4. Logitech G300s – An Affordable Gaming Mouse

Now I got to say, when I first saw this mouse, the overall design and shape of it was pretty strange until I realized that it is a genius because it can be used as a left handed mouse as well, thanks to its symmetrical design.

Logitech has been around for like forever. If you never had a Logitech office mouse before, you must be living under a rock or something. Jokes aside, they were and are very popular amongst gamers and office users as well.

If you have smaller hands and have problems pressing the buttons on the side of the mouse, where they are usually placed, this can be a very good alternative to try out. Since it’s a pretty strange place to place buttons, it takes a little practice to get used to them, but if you do, they can be a true game changer. They will definitely improve your game performance.

The G300s has nine programmable buttons, what you can configure with the awesome software that comes with it. The software has a nice design and very easy to use, even for a person who is not technical, but it would be better if it came with the mouse. If you want to get the software, you will have to search for it and download it off the internet.

Unfortunately, there are no manuals in the package that tells you how or where to download the software itself.

The odd shape of the mouse is pretty easy to get used to and not unpleasant at all, and it comes with a super long cord, so if you have a laptop or a portable device, you might need to think about tying that somehow.

The Logitech G300s is not a weighted mouse, which makes it easy to drop to the floor, but on the other side, it is very durable. But don’t use it to beat up your friend/roommate, I don’t think it’s THAT durable.

The mouse has an onboard memory, where you can store 3 profiles, which is great for this price, and you can even set the lighting according to the certain profiles, to make sure you know what profile you are using currently.

If you want to have the best budget gaming experience with this mouse, I would recommend you purchase a gaming mouse pad as well.

5. Redragon M601 – The most affordable budget gaming mouse under $20

We have arrived at the last mouse on our list. I was honestly amazed what this budget gaming mouse can give you for less than $20.

The mouse itself looks very great, it has an aggressive red look and the LED lighting on the back of the mouse,  adds a very cool effect to it.

The weight of the mouse is perfect, and… AND! It has an adjustable weight system. That’s right, you’ve read that right, you can literally take out or add in more weight ’till you find the one setting that you like. If you ask me, for a gaming mouse under $20, that is a very cool thing to have.

It has a great grip, you won’t have any problems making very small movements with it. But that alone does not do the wonder, the M601 has a 3200 DPI laser sensor, what might not seem too much, but when you are using the mouse, you will see that it is very accurate.

Of course, the DPI level of the mouse is adjustable, with an on-fly button on the mouse, you can choose out of four levels.

The mouse has 6 buttons, of which 5 are programmable, and with the given software, you can store up to 5 memory profiles.

The buttons have a very cool “clicky” feeling, although the are not mechanical, which is a great addon. I hate when buttons are “mushy”, but I did not have this issue with this mouse.

It comes with a braided cable as well.

The mouse wheel has an awesome rubber coating on it, which makes it easier to use and scroll.

Honestly, if you are looking for a great mouse, that is under 20$, I would go with this mouse. Don’t expect high build quality and awesome software, but for this price, this mouse does everything it is supposed to do!

Should you buy a budget gaming mouse under $10?

Honestly? Don’t. There are several “gaming” mouses listed on Ebay, or Alibaba for less than 5 dollars, but it is always too good to be true. These are often made from very cheap plastic, have smushy buttons, and have issues very soon after buying.

One of my friends decided to buy one from Alibaba, and when he turned it on, he was amazed. Somehow, the mouse was reversed! When he slid the mouse left, the cursor went right, when he slid the mouse up, it went down. Well, that is what you get for five dollars.

Conclusions

If you don’t want to spend 75-100 dollars on a mouse, there are some very good budget gaming mouses out there, that you can buy. Just simply choose one out of my list, I can assure you, it won’t let you down, for the price.
