TIBCO BusinessEvents 2.2 now shipping…
Posted by Paul Vincent
Another release of TIBCO BusinessEvents has hit the streets: version 2.2. The main change with this release is the inclusion of new deployment options:
+ deploy BusinessEvents within a BusinessWorks container: great for using BusinessEvents as a decision engine for SOA integration processes, choreography, transaction flow monitoring, etc, or for using BusinessWorks as a ruleflow tool.
+ deploy BusinessEvents as a BusinessWorks container: great for exploiting SOA orchestration and services under the control of CEP, such as invoking complex adapters.
Naturally, the documentation includes advice on configuration, persistence, failover etc options for both models.
This release makes CEP-SOA integration even smoother than before. There is really very little integration cost for using CEP to drive SOA services, or using a rules engine for SOA orchestration decisions.

Just to be clear, BusinessEvents 2.2 continues to support the standard CEP operations / deployments independent of BusinessWorks. And continues to process complex business events (as well as any simple business events, as needed). Per the EPTS definition of “complex event” anyway (see http://complexevents.com/?p=195)
